MG Astor variants leaked ahead of launch

The Chinese manufacturer SAIC Motor, in charge of producing subcompact crossover SUV disclosed the information that MG Astor variants has been leaked ahead of release.

According to the report by indiatoday.in, MG Motor India is all set to introduce its fourth offering- the MG Astor in India, in the first week of October. Now, the larger displacement unit mated to the manual gearbox will receive Style, Super, Smart Std., Smart, Sharp Std., Sharp variants.


As the Astor is a petrol-only SUV, it will come with two engine options- a 1.4-litre turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine. 

The turbo petrol unit will also be available in 7 trims- Super, Smart Std., Smart, Sharp Std., Sharp, Savvy, and Savvy Red trims. However, the base version of the Astor is also said to be loaded to the brim, albeit a few variations.

According to the recent report, the 8-speed CVT unit will only be offered in 7 trims- Super, Smart Std., Smart, Sharp Std., Sharp, Savvy, and Savvy Red trims.

We drove the car and our first-drive review of the MG Astor will go live on September 30, 2021, at 12 pm, but ahead of its official release, the variants of the new SUV were leaked on the internet, which gave us a closer glimpse at what the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun rival has to offer.

While the former will come mated with only a 6-speed automatic torque convertor, the latter will be offered with a 6-speed manual and an 8-speed CVT unit.
